Props and Costume

I experimented with my chosen main models on a variety of different outfits.
I have sourced all of these outfits from my own wardrobe and my models wardrobes.
In this photo my model is wearing lace leggings, a bralet, a denim waistcoat and red heels. These clothes are very in-trend and represent the indie alternative rock style.
The bralet is a key piece as 'underwear worn as outerwear' is very popular this season. The pink of the bra suggests 'sexy but serious' as my readers like to have fun and experiment but they are serious about their lives and my artist is serious about her music. I have decided that my model will be wearing this on my front cover.

This image shows the bralet close up and a necklace I experimented with. The necklace is a unique piece and goes very well with my music genre on the other hand I have chosen not to use it as I think it would clutter and overpower the outfit.
However I am definitely going to dress my front cover model in the velvet bralet.

In this photo my model wears dungarees with a pale pink blouse. I really liked this outfit as it is very fun and the costume is very unique and fashionable.
However it is quite childlike and I don't think it fully shows the genre of my magazine which I need the main front cover image to do. This outfit may be more suited to a model on my DPS or contents page as it shows off the models personality through the costume which engages the reader.

In this photo my model wears a crop top with a statement slogan 'WILD CHILD' teamed with suede shorts. This is very fashionable and in season. This crop top isn't suitable for the front cover as it would draw the eye away from the cover/sell lines featured on the page. It will most likely feature on a model in the Contents page instead. However, I am going to dress my model in these suede shorts for my front cover.

The following images are my decided models costume and accessories/props

FRONT COVER:

This ring is a statement piece and is exceptionally unique. It reinforces that my magazine is for the alternative crowd. This will stand out on my model and will be visible on the front cover as my model has one hand on hip and the other hanging.

This outfit is very in-trend and represents the indie alternative genre. My model is wearing a pink velvet bralet, suede shorts and a fur gilet accompanied with sunglasses. This combination showcases timeless style and in season fashion. It will attract potential readers/buyers as my model is a representation of the readership of my magazine. The sunglasses add a cool edge to the image and emphasis that she is confident and 'in the know'.

These Carvela shoes will complete the outfit. They are very in trend and are very typical of my genre.
DOUBLE PAGE SPREAD:

This outfit is very in trend and completely signifies the rock indie genre. My model is wearing a black leotard with patterned tights teamed with biker boots. The costume suggests the artist has a very confident and edgy personality which is important to show in a DPS. The costume I have chosen definitely reinforces that this is a indie rock magazine and not a mainstream pop or R&B magazine.

This shot showcases the tights and boots. Both items of costume are very typical of the indie rock genre and in a result will attract my target audience.

CONTENTS PAGE

These two photos showcase very in trend clothes, black skinny jeans and a statement hunting style jacket. Both items of costume are very typical of the indie rock genre and in a result will attract my target audience.

This image showcases another in trend jacket of the season and the polo t-shirt underneath is also very typical of the indie genre too. It will attract potential readers/buyers as my model is a representation of the readership of my magazine.

In these two images my model wears two very fashionable polo shirts, these are very 60's Mod a time when music was very important. This costume will engage the reader and encourage them to purchase and read the magazine.

My other model featured contents page will be wearing sunglasses. These add a cool edge to the image and emphasis that he is a confident musician and 'in the know'.

In conclusion these outfits connote individuality, thinking for yourself, not following the crowd and being your own person. This reinforces that my magazine is very far from the generic mainstream pop scene.
